How much do the programs cost? They are all FREE
Who can join? Everyone 18 years and older is welcome to join!
What is the difference between the three book clubs? The two afternoon book clubs read the exact same books, just in a different order. The evening book club has a different set of books entirely.
Can I join more than one club? You are welcome to join the evening book club, and one of the afternoon book clubs.
Where do I get the book? Come to the circulation desk, and see if there is a copy OR pick a copy up when the book club meets.
Learning at Lunch
Who can come? This program is designed for adults, but anyone may come. We also have a ton of excellent children's programing available specifically for our younger patrons!
When does it start? At 12:00pm (noon).
Tuesday Night Movies
Who can come? Everyone 18 years and older is welcome to come to our Tuesday Night Movies.
When does it start? The doors open at 6:00pm and the movie starts at 6:30pm.
The Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory (DRAO) was built in the White Lake Basin in 1959 and has been in continuous operation since it opened in June 1960. How did this observatory end up located in Penticton and why was it built in the first place? This talk will discuss the early history of DRAO---including details about its first employees Jack Locke and John Galt---and will present newly uncovered colour photographs from the construction of the observatory.
How much sugar is hiding in your food? Take a closer look at the food items that you buy at the grocery store and you will see that added sugar is all around us. It has crept in as a main ingredient in many foods that we consider healthy and has created havoc for our health. Join holistic nutritionist Anita Bains to discuss how we can identify hidden sugars in our food, overcome sugar cravings and properly nourish our bodies.

Have you ever wondered how some areas came to have such spectacular scenery? Join Bob Handfield, a retired geologist, as he takes you through the geology of some of the western US National Parks. He will touch on some of the underlying reasons for the parks amazing rock formations, as well as the plants and animals from the area. Bob will end with some current issues facing the parks. The parks to be discussed are: Yellowstone (WY), Arches (UT), Mesa Verde (CO), Zion (UT), Grand Canyon (AZ) and Joshua Tree NP (CA).
